Diversified Computer Solutions, Inc. (DCS), an IT specialist company based in Atlanta, GA and Columbia, SC, is showing its support in the fight against breast cancer. For the next few weeks, DCS is offering the familiar pink bracelets to support breast cancer research for $1.00 each. While that in itself is a great gesture, DCS is upping the ante by matching dollar for dollar up to $3,500.00 to be presented to the Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, SC.
DCS President Donald Kidwell explained “DCS, like practically everyone in the world has been affected by this disease. Mothers, daughters, women of all walks of life, have had their lives forever altered by breast cancer and we would just like to add whatever support we can to help end this disease.”
Early detection and aggressive therapies have made breast cancer more manageable. According to the National Cancer Institute, the estimated new cases for women in the U.S. will top 230,000 in women with an estimated death toll of almost 40,000. The research over the last 2 decades has had a tremendous affect in mortality rates in the United States with the high ranging from about 33% in 1990 to dropping to about 23% in 2006.
DCS is excited about starting this initiative to do our part to help the great work that Lexington Medical Center is doing. Lexington Medical offers affordable digital mammography with its state-of-the-art mobile unit, The Mobile Mammography van. The Mobile Mammography van can travel to places of business, school, church or organized event, and perform mammography screenings for those in the Midlands of South Carolina.
