NATO 50th Anniversary Summit
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 1999--
Atlanta-based firm implemented and maintained host committee's computer network. Diversified Computer Solutions, a leading provider of network consulting solutions, announced the completion of its latest large-scale consulting project, the implementation of the computer network for the host committee
of NATO's 50th Anniversary Summit in Washington, D.C. The summit was the largest peacetime gathering of world leaders in the United States.
Building on its success at the 1994 World Cup of Soccer and the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, DCS installed and supported a network that served the 100+ members of the NATO Host Committee and 300+ NATO delegates. The network used the latest technology coupled with high-speed Internet access at the committee's main headquarters. In the International Trade Center/Ronald Reagan Building, DCS also installed and maintained the network that supported the committee efforts and delegates during the summit. Each broadcast, meeting and press conference was dependent on DCS' installation and maintenance of the network.
"It was truly gratifying to know that we played a major role in providing the world access to one of NATO's most critical moments throughout its 50-year history," said Peter Minetos, president of Diversified Computer Solutions.
Throughout the project, DCS confronted tight deadlines and uncommon working conditions. The summit meetings ran from 9:00 A.M. into the late evening, requiring all sysems maintenance to take place between midnight and 6:00 A.M. DCS also had to take extra measures to secure the Internet and email traffic.
"We were pleased to work in partnership with Peter Minetos and the Diversified Computer Solutions team during this historic project," said host committee operations director Vince Frillici. "They helped us meet our deadlines and respond to the many demands required throughout the planning and execution of the summit."
"We are very excited to have had the opportunity to take on such a high profile and demanding initiative," said Minetos. "Working under such tight deadlines and heightened security was a great challenge, but one that we were prepared to meet. We were confidant that our success during the World Cup and the Atlanta Olympics prepared us well for such a complex project."
DCS coordinated with several vendors throughout the project, including Lucent Technologies, Bell Atlantic and Intermedia. DCS also worked closely with the State Department and United States Information Agency.
