Most of the integration services at these districts included connecting all campuses through the District office via a WAN which integrates NetWare (Administration) Servers, Windows NT or 2003 (Instruction) servers, Cisco routers, BorderManager, and Avaya, 3Com, or Cisco switches. DCS has installed network workstations with Internet access in most of the classrooms, and teachers and administrators send and receive both intra District and Internet Email as well as possess the capability to access email via the web. Administrators in the schools are able to directly access financial, transportation and food service systems residing on the administrative servers at the District office.  In some districts, wireless local area networks (WLAN) exist and wireless mobile units have been installed as well. DCS has also assisted in the design and implementation of moving districts towards voice/data convergence.

The Internet/WAN experience that DCS has accrued have resulted in an additional benefit.  DCS is very experienced in successfully coordinating with the personnel at the State Department of Education, the Office of the State CIO, BellSouth and various independent telephone/Internet service providers (such as Farmers Telephone Company and Verizon) scattered around South Carolina to accomplish the goals of the District.
